Translated voices: dream-logic tradition

Readings

Tonight's texts are all in translation, and all of them run on dream-logic rather than plot. Lorca's ballad sleepwalks through a story he himself said he couldn't explain. Kleist argues that consciousness destroys grace -- only puppets and gods move perfectly. Kafka wakes a man up as an insect and treats it as a scheduling problem. Don't look for what happens. Look for how it feels to be inside a story that won't explain itself.
