Faith and doubt share a house tonight. Hopkins is a Jesuit priest watching the world flame with God's grandeur despite industrial ruin. Dillard camps out at a creek trying to get a rock to talk to her. O'Connor puts a grandmother and an escaped convict on a dirt road and forces them into a conversation about goodness that neither of them is prepared for. Each writer believes something enormous is at stake. They disagree about what.
